StudentsFirst released its much-awaited (and plenty contentious) 2013 State Policy Report Card today. The highest rankings, netted by Louisiana and Florida, were B-minuses; a dozen states earned an F. After California was flunked, chief deputy superintendent Richard Zeiger took his ire to the New York Times: “‘This group has focused on an extremely narrow, unproven method that they think will improve teaching—and we just flat-out disagree with them.’”

On Wednesday, January 9, 2013, the Thomas B. Fordham Institute will host StudentsFirst’s Vice President of National Polcicy Eric Lerum as he presents the study’s findings. He will be joined by a panel, moderated by Fordham’s Michael Petrilli, consisting of Eric Smith (former Florida Commissioner of Education and Executive Director of Chiefs for Change), Idaha state supe Tom Luna, and prominent think-tankers Rick Hess and Ulrich Boser. They’ll dig into the new report card, the future of education reform, and how to bridge the divide between policy and practice. Are you coming?
